My late 2017 13" MacBook Pro with USB-C ports works fine with my 5DSR and 5DIV using EOS Utility. But, it is not recognising my M5. Further, when I put its SD card into a card reader, the card does not appear on the desk top. I have tried resetting SCM and NVPRM but to no avail. This is terribly frustrating as I have a trip on Wednesday and was hoping to take the smaller laptop rather than my old 15" MacBook Pro, which works well (standard USB ports). Ant advice please.

The problem was with the cable - a direct micro-usb to USB-C. The cable works with a USB-C - USB adapter when plugged into an old 2015 Mac but not without the adapter when plugged directly into the 2017 Mac. Using a Mac USB to USB-C adapter and a micro-USB to USB cable, everything now works.
