I thought this one was kind of neat....shot with the 14mm Rokinon manual lens.
That's a bold lens choice for a concert! The shot turned out really well, so it was a good idea for sure.
Thank you!
This was at Voodoo Fest a couple years ago in New Orleans. I was able to get on "staff" for the event..so, I was in the pit and this was one of the small stages and I was able to be very close and lean right on the stage for some of the shots. Also, for most of this there was none of this 3 songs and out thing....
This was my first gig ever shooting something like this. I didn't get paid, but for taking shots (and I can use them for my own self promotion) I got free admission, meals...and access virtually everywhere on the grounds.
It was a great fest and portfolio builder. I took over 3K shots..and really need to find the time to dig in there and start weeding through all of them and working on the gems a bit more with post....
C
dang, lucky...I would love to be able to shoot Voodoo fest!!
Tell me about it...I got on from a recommendation from a friend who had shot with them for the past years. This was my first 'pro' type shooting. The guy in charge liked my stuff.....BUT..the next year, some other group took over for photography, and well, I think they ONLY let in their people, rather than using locals in the New Orleans area.
That sucked...but at least I have a few for my portfolio. Actually I shot like 3K images over 3 days...I really do need to go back through all of those, cull out bad shots and develop the good ones.
I'll try to dig up some more fun ones and post them here.
