RF extenders with EF lenses

Hi everyone,

I have a Canon R6, some RF lenses and some EF lenses, and I was considering buying a TC 1.4x and/or 2x.
I read the "RF and EF extenders on the EF 600/4L IS II" post with great interest.

I was kinda surprised to not see more posts about that topic, as it seems great to be able to use the top dog TC on any EF lenses (personnally I'd be curious to see how a Sigma 135 1.8 performs with it).

So, my question is: what am I missing ?

You need to modify an EF-RF adapter for that to work, most people don’t have enough motivation to take a file to electronics

Yes, as shown it's just a little dremeling ...

...and you can easily disassemble it first, so the electronics don't get in the way. I'd still recommend the control-ring version, as already mentioned. Then you don't have to make a hole in the plastic if you are careful.

Any reason why Canon isn't making an adapter by themselves seeing how it seems to work perfectly fine? I just saw a video about this yesterday.

Looking at aliexpress for the third-party options available. Found one from JJC which almost seems like it was made with RF teleconverters in mind.

You'd still need to widen the opening, and more than with the Commlite. The reason people (me, included) use the Commlite adapter is that it has the widest opening to start. You can see that there's less protrusion on the bottom with the Commlite below than with the JJC above.
