I thought that the pro experts want 1.4Where are the oh so sophisticated pros threatening to denounce a brand because a 35mm lens is a tragic fail if it's 1.4 instead of 1.2? (Or any of 100 other tantrum triggers...) Cartman lurks...
When can we expect to see the rumored 14mm f/1.2 or f/1.4 and the 24mm f/1.4?
The Sony 14mm f/1.4 GM is awesome but nothing comparable exists for Canon. I really hope Canon delivers with their RF 14mm f1.4 (L IS USM). Hopefully in 2024!
Removing at least $3.5k from your bank accounthow different would a RF version of the CN-E 34mm/1.4 be?
Adding IS but removing what??

The fact that it’s not as buttery as a 50 or 85 is exactly why i want at least a 1.2 (I’d buy a 35mm f1.0 if it were available) I’ve been waiting to upgrade from my 35mm 1.4L II forever. I’m still holding out hope that it will be 1.2 since nothing is official yet.it's really unnecessary, expensive, and adds a lot of weight and bulk to make a 35mm a 1.2 instead of 1.4.
35 is not as much of a buttery DOF lens as 50 or 85, it's a wide, so 1.4 is plenty, even for astro. I'd rather save $1000 and 500g of weight.
Depends on what you shoot. I’m a portrait photographer that shoots 35mm portraits on location and crops to a 16/9 ratio and would like to utilize the extra 1/3 stop.I thought that the pro experts want 1.4
I do not do much video, so no.@roby17269 does the rumoured f/1.4 fit your use case?
Those will be the most pissed off by the lack of meaningful news.It will be meaningful for those who are desperately waiting for this lens!
It is on the roadmap but Nikon did not disclose the aperture. If Nikon didn't announce f1.2 last year
No, we don't.we have to accept that a site like this lives through clicks and exposure
A confirmed rumor is not the same as a confirmed fact.Did we not have a Rumor saying: Canon RF 35mm f/1.2L USM Confirmed for 2024 [C3]
Sigma has a 14 f/1.4.The Sony 14mm f/1.4 GM is awesome but nothing comparable exists for Canon
Focus breathing benefits photography too as the magnification is not constantly changing.as someone who doesn't do video I don't really care about focus breathing
The CN-R 35 T1.5 L F is pretty much the same lens with an RF mount.how different would a RF version of the CN-E 34mm/1.4 be?
Adding IS but removing what??

I don’t think the EF 35L II has particularly egregious focus breathing though — there is a bit but really not that noticeable in real world use. The CN-E also uses the same optical formula as the EF, so Canon thinks it is acceptable for video use as well.Focus breathing benefits photography to as the magnification is not constantly changing.
It's not an issue for Photographers, unless one is focus stacking. Otherwise...it's a non issue. Especially when shot wide open at f1.4 for documentary style B&W portraiture.Focus breathing benefits photography to as the magnification is not constantly changing.
