Let's just wait for the 28-70 II. It could be lighter and even sharper than both.
It's so nice to have such a wide choice!
PS:I had to send back my 24-105 F2,8. I just couldn't get really sharp corners( F 5,6 or F 8), especially at 24 and from 70 to 105 mm. Maybe I'll try another one, or wait for what the 28-70 II has to offer.
I own too many lenses already, so I'm not in a hurry.
I think waiting for 28-70 II will be wise, but I wonder if they will offer a 24mm L before or after?

I will not buy the RF 24 L, since the EF 24 TSE is part of my standard equipment when travelling or hiking.
Unless I get hit by a severe attack of GAS (high probability...) ;)

Thinking about the rainbow shot, I was on the side of a road. Unless I jumped a fence and tresspassed (or did a pano), I wouldn't have been able to get the full rainbow with 28mm. Just something to think about.
There’s been a few quotes through the history of photography regarding something like “what you leave out of the frame is as important as what’s in it”. Actually I think your image is probably more compelling as you have framed it rather than ‘getting it all in’.

I'm wondering about that too! Some people post like "omg the one lens everybody wants is still unavailable!" That's just two that aren't available yet. It simply takes time to do each lens.

In 2021 I took a similar rainbow shot similar to @danfaz , although in mine the rainbow was only a rain curve really !

Canon 5DS + EF 35/2 IS 1/300, f/5, ISO 100, Wester Ross in the Highlands of Scotland. If the name sounds familiar it's because George R.R. Martin used a number of north western Scottish place names in his fictional 'Song of Ice and Fire' aka Game of Thrones.

Super cool scene!
My front porch view :D. It is ever changing. Sometimes by the hour and then sometimes by the minute. I do need to take a load of logs to the mill, though. Those trees right in front are blocking the view. They grow 4 to 6 ft every year around here and pretty soon they are in the way. Here is a very similar camera angle but from about 10 ft lower shooting position taken almost 30 years ago long before we built on the property. As you can see, the trees have grown. BTW, the tree on the left had about 20 ft of its top blown out by the wind around 2005 and it grew a new top and now is taller than it was in 95.

@Dragon what an amazing view you have! I imagine you must see some great sunsets?
The view is close to due south, so we only get sunsets in the open space for a couple of months a year (another reason to do some pruning), but in the winter, weather permitting, we do get some really nice ones. A few examples below, all but the second one shot from the front yard rather than the porch as the view to the right is better there.
