Shore Acres is a lovely place. The property is the location of the Simpson Lumber mansion. The main house burned down, but the caretakers cottage and the gardens remain as a state park. The gardens are similar to Butchart Gardens in Victoria, BC, but smaller. That coastline is famous for great images during storms as the slope of the rock causes the breakers to catapult high into the air. https://www.bing.com/images/search?q=shore+acres+waves&form=HDRSC3&first=1 . During the holiday season, they light up the gardens with LEDs. Here are a couple of shots taken with a 5D Mark II many years ago (back when the lights were incandescent )Beautiful series. I especially like the 5th picture.
Love the second one! Did you make some adjustments in post? because my rainbow photos haven't been so vivid.
Beware that reservations have been required for the last year, so call ahead.I love Shore Acres, wanting to visit for 2024 Christmas.
Thanks, Eric, that's my fav! The birds topped it off for me!Love the second one! Did you make some adjustments in post? because my rainbow photos haven't been so vivid.
Which one (24-105/ 28-70) would you say is sharper for landscape pictures? Thanks, Eric, that's my fav! The birds topped it off for me!
Yes, I changed the profile in Lightroom to Adobe Vivid, then exported it to Luminar Neo and gave it a 50% "Enhance AI" bump.
Here's a before and after:

I bet Roby's answer is RF35 f/1.2Which one (24-105/ 28-70) would you say is sharper for landscape pictures?
Honestly, it's really a toss-up, as they are very, very close in practice. The 24-105 isn't very sharp in the corners at f/2.8 and 24mm, but stopped down to a typical landscape aperture, it's sharp.Which one (24-105/ 28-70) would you say is sharper for landscape pictures?
My favorite is the RF 14-35. From 16-30mm is it is stunning.Honestly, it's really a toss-up, as they are very, very close in practice. The 24-105 isn't very sharp in the corners at f/2.8 and 24mm, but stopped down to a typical landscape aperture, it's sharp.
Both lenses at f/4,5.6,8 are very sharp. But of course, you get 39 more mm of range with the 24-105.
Thinking about the rainbow shot, I was on the side of a road. Unless I jumped a fence and tresspassed (or did a pano), I wouldn't have been able to get the full rainbow with 28mm. Just something to think about.
Let's just wait for the 28-70 II. It could be lighter and even sharper than both.Honestly, it's really a toss-up, as they are very, very close in practice. The 24-105 isn't very sharp in the corners at f/2.8 and 24mm, but stopped down to a typical landscape aperture, it's sharp.
