Thanks again, Click. I haven't seen any around here in almost three years. Given their flightpaths and speed versus my lack of speed, I doubt that I'll get a sharp shot of one in flight.I really like the Kingfisher. Well done, becceric.
Wow - I just got sent an email that my sighting got sent out on an eBird Rare Sighting alert! I didn't know they had these alerts and have signed up for them. Then, to finish the day a female Red-crested Pochard - the first recorded in the area. They are rare visitors - the twitchers started pouring in as we were leaving. This one need the 2xTC at 1000mm, and is still a tiny crop. She spent most of the time with her head tucked in and stood up for just a few seconds.View attachment 215943View attachment 215944
Last post was the beautiful Pink Robin. This week's effort was their cousin the Scarlet Robin. Different colour. Different environment. Equally spectacular bird
Love it! But when I read, "starling," I often think of Anthony Hopkins saying it.
Golden Plovers look like cheetahs and skunks in a bird shape. Great photos! The Golden Plovers are ready to go North! Plus some of the regulars that will stay here all the year....

That kingkish is going to join a punk or newwave band? great photo! My wife and I went to see if the local Kingfisher was feeding this morning, but no luck. We then went to the river and watched a variety of birds, including two Kingfishers chasing and yelling at each other. I got some shots of the victor.

We also watched a female Bufflehead lounging about.

It's so amazing to catch them eating in photos!
Stunning!
I've never seen a northern flicker before. Typically, I see Pileated woodpeckers but usually they are too high (in the trees not marijuana). I don't remember seeing geese in trees, but have seen peacocks and turkeys up in trees or on the roofs of farm housesA Northern Flicker spotted yesterday and a couple of geese, mom in the nest, and dad standing guard.
Now, I had no idea geese would nest in trees, so this was a first for me LOL!
